tiddlypocketbook and margins

Hi,

I am trying to print using tiddlypocketbook. However the pocketmods
generated always have a quite large margin, and I need to cut the
paper around the pocketmod.

Is there something I can do to print them without margin (or to have a
margin in the individual "pages" on a paper?

I print pocketmods from a diverse set of apps and fileformats, so I've never tried any TW-specific solutions.

The core PDF-to-PocketMod tool works fine, so just print to that as if you're going to full-size pages that you want to read from six feet away - for HTML I use print.css techniques to set font size / margins, hide images, otherwise strip out the kruft.

If you have access to Linux (or possibly via Cygwin in windoze) pdfjam-pocketmod is a great FOSS tool, very easy, but its extreme flexibility means customizing has a bit of a learning curve if you haven't worked in LaTeX before.

In windoze, my current workflow is via a (non-free) Acrobat extension called "Quite Imposing Plus", which gives microscopic control over all facets. Before that I used FinePrint, also non-free but a great general-purpose tool.

I made a few tweaks to http://pocketguide.tiddlyspace.com/
It's probably worth checking this and see if it improves your

Thanks Corey for your suggestion. But this does not change my
problem. Maybe it has to do with the Firefox (3.6.24) which I'm
using. Basically the print comes out at something like 90% size of a
page, centered. That implies that the first folding of the pocketmod
is good, but that secondary folds are off the grid lines.

I would try printing to generic image files (I use imageprinter for this) and crop with your favorite scriptable image toolkit (I use IrfanView).

I noticed that this TW is made to print perfectly on A4 paper but messes up when you print it on letter paper. How can you adjust it to fit on letter size paper?

This sounds like an issue that you may be able to resolve by tweaking
the settings when you print. What printer are you using?

I recommend following HansBKK's advice if tweaking the print settings
is not an option: print to an image format that you can tweak and then
print the tweaked image to your printer. Your printer may also have
more (or just different) options for printing images than for printing
html documents.

I am not sure if Firefox 3.6 handles printing differently than Firefox
9, but in Firefox 9 with a Canon MP640, I can print a webpage as
Normal-size, Borderless, Fit-To-Page, and Scaled (and a few other
options that are not applicable here).

The default for TiddlyPocketBook is ISO A4, as used in most countries,
but if you're wanting to print on Letter, the tiddler
StyleSheetPrintPage can be changed to transclude
[[StyleSheetPrintLetter]] instead of [[StyleSheetPrintA4]]

I guess I should make it an option, but never worked out how to do
that neatly, so you'll have to edit the tiddlers by hand in a local
copy ..

Mention of "Letter" reminds me of the printer in Office Space, which
is how I ended up feeling about how many browser mangle the metric CSS
sizes used by TiddlyPocketBook, so tweaking the printer settings and
cropping in print-preview may be you best option.
