I'm using TWClassic and am unable to save my files in Firefox anymore. I believe it has to do with the recent update of TiddlyFox.

I saw the other thread "TiddlyFox seemed to stop working", but I'm not sure a solution is provided in there for my situation.

I tried reinstalling a previous xpi-file of the TiddlyFox add-on (tiddlyfox_extension_for_firefox-1.0alpha18-fx.xpi), but Firefox refused to install it, because it isn't signed. I have not been able to figure out how to work around that.

I don't have control over application versions at work, so I cannot downgrade or install "an unbranded" version of Firefox that supposedly helps.

It appears I should have prevented the automatic update of the TiddlyFox add-on? Would that have prevented my issue? But then, why was I able to install the old add-on in the first place if it isn't signed?

Is there a solution for my problem?

Hi Schorschi

I'm using TWClassic and am unable to save my files in Firefox anymore. I believe it has to do with the recent update of TiddlyFox.

I saw the other thread "TiddlyFox seemed to stop working", but I'm not sure a solution is provided in there for my situation.

There are two problems identified in the thread:

1) TiddlyFox v2.0.1 doesn’t work in private browsing mode, or with “never remember history” enabled
2) The usability issue that many people weren’t expecting and didn’t see the new toolbar icon

I’ve posted a prerelease that fixes the first problem and addresses the second by adopting a new toolbar icon design.

The prerelease doesn’t work on regular versions of Firefox, so you may have to wait for its official release (which is largely due to Mozilla’s reviewing timescales).

I tried reinstalling a previous xpi-file of the TiddlyFox add-on (tiddlyfox_extension_for_firefox-1.0alpha18-fx.xpi), but Firefox refused to install it, because it isn't signed. I have not been able to figure out how to work around that.

You can install signed earlier versions of TiddlyFox from here:

It’s not clear whether your issue is one of the two identified above, or a new issue we haven’t seen before. Can you confirm whether you can see the TiddlyFox toolbar icon?

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Is there a solution for my problem?

Oh, there is a TiddlyFox icon. I was able to click on the "Enable Save" button and could save the TiddlyWiki file now. Thanks.

Sorry, was oblivious to that.

In that other thread, I vaguely recall reading something about the save property not sticking between Firefox restarts, though. Unclear when that applies.

So, what do you suggest I should do now with the auto-update switch of the TiddlyFox add-on if preserving functionality of my TWClassic pages until all eternity is my ultimate goal? Should I leave it on Auto, or force it to Off?

What would have happened had I had the Auto-update switch already on Off prior to the update a few days ago? Would I have still had a problem saving, or would I have been able to continue my TWClassic hermit life undisturbed?
