Why does a double $$ at the beginning of a field get chopped to a single one when I save my wiki?

Hi!
I just stored a Katex expression in a field and I had to find out that
one of the surrounding $ gets lost while saving the wiki.
Is this a known issue?

Perhaps you could provide a complete sample of the contents of your field?

What version of TW? What save mechanism? My quick test in 5.1.19 showed the contents saving and restoring as expected.

It happened three times when download saving this wiki:

at the moment I cannot reproduce it.

It used to happen a few versions of tiddlywiki ago but I think it's been fixed for a while.
