Hi,

Since about a year, I discovered this wonderful solution and use it quite a lot.
Thanks to all contributing for this supersolution!

A few months ago, I switched to the new version and I before I had configured the backup option but did not spend to much time on this when I started using this version.
My browser (Firefox) crashed yesterday - as it does more lately - but now my content was gone, the html file has a 0 KB size which confirms it.
I have searched my profile folder and later my whole disk but couldn't find any file related to this.

1) Do I have to live with the fact that I lost all the content or is there any other way to get it back?
2) Is it not possible anymore to create auto backups with every change - like before - since in the control panel -> TiddlySpot it states "These settings are only used when saving to http://tiddlyspot.com or a compatible remote server"

TIA

Really sorry to hear that.

I find FF crashing so much that it has forced me to use Chrome in parallel, particularly for TW dev.

I suspect it is too late, but I use a FF addon called Form History Control that has occasionally been of value. It gives you control over filled in form fields and you might find some stuff in there but unlikely very much.

I also rely much on tiddlyspot for stuff, which has a backup system build in. Now with the nice TW5 encryption mechansims you can store more personal - but of course not sensitive - stuff there.

Other than that, it's a quick manual ctrl-c ctrl-v on the latest local TW file every now and then for me. Not ideal.

Grabbing for straws, but maybe you did at one time make a backup... maybe it's in a not-yet-emptied wastebasked... an email...?

Hope it works out somehow.

<;-)

Damn....  :-/
Thank your for answering though!
The latest version (TWC) is from November last year and I did add lot of new and quite different notes and links since then.
I checked out your tip regarding the Form History Control but it's not clear on how this can help in my case. Does it use the address of the browser to search for previously inserted information?

On my backup question: am I correct that there is no built-in option anymore and neither with a plugin or macro?

No automatic backups at the moment. All browser vendors have removed "the direct file IO functions" that we used, to create TW backups, for security reasons.

Allowing TiddlyFox to create backups is on the roadmap, but I think, not on the way yet.

Yep, a real bummer.
I'm looking through the FF addons to see which can help me somehow to distinguish the sites from my browsing history that I have used for all the notes I made.

Ok, thank you anyway for your explanation about the backup situation.
