Hi all,

I use several TW's in TiddlyDesktop, all in the same directory, and sometimes I want to make a link from a tiddler in one TW to a tiddler in another. Is it possible to automatically open the second TW in TiddlyDesktop? Or jump to it if already open?

As a workaround up till now, i just insert file links like 'file://..path../TWx.html' which then open in a browser. But TiddlyDesktop does not pass attached names (like TWx.html#mytiddler) to the browser, so it is not possible to link directly to a specific tiddler. This seems like a bug in TiddlyDesktop, because those links do work if the source TW runs in the browser instead of in TiddlyDesktop.

Greetings,
Sjaak

In a similar situation to you I make Firefox my default browser and it includes timimi so I can save wikis with a file address.

This allows me to build a directory of links inside a tiddlydesktop wiki that will open them in the browser. Tiddly desktop allows my directory wiki to open file explorer on a particular folder and applications and more.

I have not come across your problem and will look when back at my desktop. I am s upprised.

Perhaps look at the way you have built your links, have you tried the html a and href method? Even to your tiddlydesktop wikis.

I think tiddly desktop needs some command line options to open a wiki in tiddlydesktop.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply.

I tried installing timimi but it does not work on a Mac. I also tried typing raw html in the source tiddler text ('<a href="...TW.html#mytiddler">' etc.) but even this did not make TiddlyDesktop pass the '#mytiddler' bit to the browser. Do I have to escape the #-sign in some way?

As you said, TiddlyDesktop opens links to folders in the file explorer (Finder on a Mac). I like this better than the browser behaviour (open folder links, like any other file link, in a new browser tab, where you can hardly do anything useful).

I still would like TiddlyDesktop to open links into other TW's in another TiddlyDesktop window. And also pass the name bit of the URL, of course...

Greetings,
Sjaak

Sjaak,

In a tiddlydesktop wiki these work for me

Is this not the case for you?

I have a default Browser set on my windows desktop and it opens in a new tab with the Filter Operators loaded

Do you have the slash before the hash, "/" before the "#"

I obtained this link from the permalink.

Regards
Tony
