Hi dudes,

How ripe is tiddlywiki5?

I'm about to start a new wiki, and wondering which version to use

(I have a large wiki already, based on the original version [whatever it's called, not the 5])

Thanks

It is out of beta and new features are actively being developed for 5, so unless you have some compelling reason to stay with classic you should probably use the new one.

And how about the plugins depository?

How much of the plugins are already adjusted to 5, and how quickly are others being adjusted?

Thanks

I would say you should definitely go with TW5.

How much of the plugins are already adjusted to 5, and how quickly are others being adjusted?

Unfortunately it's a start from scratch also with the plugins as they are incompatible. The number of plugins are still very limited (...and we still/again suffer from the "dispersity problem" with plugins popping up without people knowing how to find them, but there is a "community plugin aggregator" that does help). However, regarding the limited number of plugins, TW5 itself is more powerful than TWC and it's easier to create your own filters... ok, not easier than installing a plugin but easier to set up than it is in TWC.

As Mat wrote. TW5 started from scratch. ... It kept most of the wiki syntax, but there are differences too [1]!

TWclassic plugins are not compatible and will never be. .... but TW itself is much much more powerful now. So many things that used to be plugins in TWc are now part of the core. Especially highly customized lists ...

hope that helps
