Hey everyone,

So now is your chance to let me know if you want the ability to use TiddlySnip with multiple TiddlyWiki files. If enough people want it, ill implement that next.

Also, while you are at it, are there any settings that you would want to be specific for each file?
I was thinking, the username, backup options and server options would be unique for each file.
However they would all share the other settings, like categories etc. Does that seem acceptable?

Also.... to make my own life easier I was thinking of making it so that you can use TiddlySnip with a hard set max number of files.... rather than unlimited.
Does 5 files seem like a reasonable number?

If you have any other ideas or suggestions, now is your chance!

Thank you, Saq. Count me in for TiddlySnip to work with multiple
TiddlyWiki files.
I have a TW for learning Linux/shell and a main TW and would be great
to triage my snips among them.
Best,
tony

Count me as one who wishes for multiple TW's for TiddlySnip.
Presently 5 TW files sounds reasonable. One thing I like is you can
change TiddlySnip preferences after already doing a snip which has
made it easier to switch TW files at the last minute.

Also as part of a wish list (I don't know how hard it would be ) it
would be nice to be able to append the snip during a snipping sesson
for articles that span several pages or to avoid ads etc.

Also a small niggle thing, as you know things are never used as you
might expect:). I often use TiddlySnip for snipping things just for
emailing, quite often in fact; probably more often that adding to a
TW, because it already has the source handily attached. One thing I
noticed is the double square brackets in the source footer become part
of the link when pasting into an email. If you could build a space at
the end of the link to avoid this it would make TiddlySnip more email
friendly.

I might have more later and thanks again for TiddlySnip.

It seems like I am headed towards letting you use an unlimited number
of TiddlyWiki files. Keep in mind though that this feature is at best
6-8 weeks away. I'm going to be otherwise occupied for 3 weeks in the
coming month.

I will also need some suggestions/feedback on how to choose which file
to send the snip to.
Some ideas:
a) another level to the menu. TiddlySnip as "category" to "file"
b) a select drop down in the "tiddler preview" window where you can
choose the target file
c) a toolbar button, first choose the file, then snip

Not sure about this either, I've never thought of this. But thanks for
the suggestion, I'll see what I can come up with

Will do! Do use thunderbird by any chance? On my "possible to do" list
is making TiddlySnip compatible with thunderbird as well.

I suggested option 'b' a while ago - give each TW an alias which appears
in the drop down.

Also, as to the GUI aspect of setting the preferences, is it possible to
do something similar? Have a drop down with a list of the TWs (or their
aliases) plus a 'Define new' option (or something similar), then have a
series of edit boxes below that in which you can edit/enter the relevant
data.

Don't know if that sounds sensible - or even feasible.

I suggested option 'b' a while ago - give each TW an alias which appears
in the drop down.

The alias is a must, referring to each file by location would not at all be convenient.  I'm not sure  as to whether to have a dropdown or  another level to the  context menu for choosing the target file. Maybe both!

Also, as to the GUI aspect of setting the preferences, is it possible to
do something similar?  Have a drop down with a list of the TWs (or their
aliases) plus a 'Define new' option (or something similar), then have a

data.

Yup, I've been thinking about that. The two options I like are:
a) what you just described. A dropdown, and fields below for "name", "location",  "username"
b) instead of a dropdown, a listbox like the one you can see the categories in, and then edit boxes beneath it. The advantage being you can see all your configured files at a glance.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'd love it, and use TiddlySnip so much more!

TiddlySnip is so easy to use that I'd hate for it to become more
complicated :-)

If you can add new features and keep the same user-friendliness, that
would be great!

I don't want to make any promises in this regard, but I'll try to make it so that the "multiple files" feature is optional. Anyone that does not want to use it will get the same old interface.

Hi, Saq,

How about being able to pick up embedded links? Or is that somewhere
in the preferences already?

Have you tried the new beta? That feature was just added.  Enable: "save selection as html"
