Hi Jonas,

Never heard of a LoadApplicationsPlugin - where did you find this?

That can only mean one thing: LoadApplicationsPlugin does not actually
exist!

More likely: LoadApplicationsPlugin was acctually comfused with
LoadTiddlersPlugin, .. or maybe MasterIncludesPlugin? ;-)

Even more likely:
* Launch Application Plugin:

* LaunchApplicationPlugin:

This plugin includes a slice:
|CoreVersion:|2.3.0|

The CoreVersion value defines the *minimum* TW core version that the
plugin needs in order to operate. When this slice value is greater
than the TW core version you are using, the plugin is automatically
bypassed to avoid the potential for fatal errors due to incompatible
plugin code being invoked.

This is especially important because plugins are loaded during
startup, where such errors could potentially 'hang' your document,
making it very difficult to fix without resorting to an external text
editor (yuck!)

However, despite the above caveat, it's *possible* that the plugin IS
compatible, but was just marked as requiring 2.3.0 in order to be on
the safe side. Try changing the CoreVersion slice value to match the
version of TW that is driving your copy of MPTW. Maybe it will work,
maybe it won't... but it's worth a try.

I updated LaunchApplicationPlugin to 2.3 as I have updated my other
plugins, since 2.3 came out.
I treated this as a 'Works With' rather than 'Works with Minimum'.
My mistake.
All my plugins should work with 2.0 onwards.
Next time I do an update, if anyone wants me to, I can revert it back
to 2.2 although, it's not hard to upgrade to 2.3 :-)

How soon we forget... and possibly because it is slightly misnamed it
is really LaunchApplicationPlugin.

There is also a program for Windoz that does the same thing although
the plugin in a better method. There are several odd or possibly
forgotten ways to link in TiddlyWiki that may be of use to new users

Oops...
Sorry about the misnaming, I mean the LaunchApplicationPlugin and
nothing else

Lyall:
Do you know if it is possible to uppgrade to 2.3 and keep the
MonkeyPirate layout?
If not, do you think that the method described by Eric Shulman above
is ok to use with this plugin

Thank you

I cannot comment on MonkeyPirate, but with regards to the solution
that the Big E proposed, sure, it's the way to go.
Simply edit the CoreVersion back to the version of tiddlywiki core
you are using.

Thank you

Its working now.
I can start application from within my TW, and that is great!
However, is it possible to get the application running inside a
tiddler? Sort of like the HTML pages i iframe.

No - your browser cannot embed regular applications.

However, with ExternalizePlugin and/or 'it's All Text' Firefox
Extention it is possible to hand over the content of a tiddler to an
external editor, and save it back to the tiddler edit box.

If I understood Jonas correctly, he wants to start, say, Windows
Notepad, Mozilla Firefox or id Software's Doom within an IFRAME.
I don't know any (mainstream) browser that can embed application windows.
