[TW5] Blank tag - how to remove?

Somehow a "blank" tag has been created. When I start to enter a tag to be assigned, I can see a tag button with no label, which is very small and only a few pixels high. It also shows up in the Tools > Tag list. It is assigned to 0 (zero) tiddlers.
How can I get rid of it? Is it possible to delete tags?

Do you use my "newtiddler" plugin with a tag-placeholder of the form $(placeholder)$? Than it's a known "annoyance" but not a real bug. That tag is the placeholder tag whch happens to be displayed inappropriatly.

I use the newtiddler plugin to create daily journals. It's not a big annoyance, I can ignore it :)
