I want to see if I can use Tiddlywiki to start a collaborative history
of peace monitoring in South Africa... Have various friends
interested, including those who worked for the Truth and
Reconciliation Commission, or the anti-fraud squads in the SA police
( which is a loooooooooooooooong way from where she/ we all started in
her relationship to the police), and various other interesting types
who drove the length and breadth of KwaZulu Natal to stand between
warring parties with nowt but a mobile phone and some useful phone
numbers to help protect funerals, political meetings, rallies and
protest marches from ending in massacres. Contributors will be from
all over SA and some, like myself, have ended up in the UK.

My next questions will be loading pictures...

But, I can't get my first attempt to save. I have Chrome running as my
default browser but did open Tiddlywiki in Firefox for XP. However, it
says it can't save, because my browser does not support saving. Do you
have a pcperson who wouldn't get toooo bored answering my questions.
Noticed that although downloaded from Firefox, the download took on a
Chrome logo... is there something I can switch off in Chrome to make
this work?
Anne

Hi,
go to: http://www.tiddlywiki.com/#TiddlySaver
click on TiddlySaver.jar and download it.
tiddlysaver.jar needs to be in the same directory as your TW file.
that's it.

if you want chrome to save local cookies a command line parameter is
needed:
Edit the chorme windows link properties. eg:

C:\Users\...\chrome.exe --enable-file-cookies

Hi Anne - Welcome to the TiddlyWiki group.
> My next questions will be loading pictures...
You should start a new thread for each new question, this way it will
be possible to search and find answers for other groupmembers - based
on explanatory titles with questions..
However, there are at least 3 ways to have pictures in your TW:
1) Put your image in the same directory as your TW and make it show in
a tiddler with: [img[./picture.jpg]]
2) Get the Url to an online picture an write this in a tiddler:
3) Install Eric Shulman's attachfilepackage: http://tiddlytools.com/#AttachFilePackage.
It allows you to embed pictures into your TW - beware of filesize!

This sound odd - are you shure you opened it in FF and not Google
Chrome? - FF should be able to save your TW without the
tiddlysaver.jar file Mario mentioned... However if you have special
characters in your filepath, this could be the problem. I had problems
with a filepath, when I was logged in as user "Måns" on my pc - then I
had to put my TW directly under c:/ to be able to save it ....

If you want to have FF set as your defaultbrowser instead of Google
Chrome - you'll make adjustments in FF.
Not sure if these are the correct English words - I'm using Danish
FF..:
In FF try Edit -Preferences - Advanced - General - test if FF is
standard - choose it to be standard.

Oh I forgot to comment on the collborative aspects:

You should consider using tiddlyspot - http://tiddlyspot.com or
http://tiddlyspace.com as a host for your TW. You won't encounter any
problems when saving changes online using any modern browser - it's
only saving locally which can be a little tricky...
Tiddlyspot is intended for single users and tiddlyspace is for
collaboration. Tiddlyspace is still under heavy devellopment - but
moving very fast.. You can follow devellopment on the tiddlyweb dev
group. http://groups.google.dk/group/tiddlywikidev
