Is there a way to always open the default TW note file when opening TiddlyDesktop, and do NOT open the wiki list window? That would simplify the process every time, as I only have one TW.

I am not aware of one, I would like a command line option to "Open With" TiddlyDesktop as well. TiddlyDesktop runs on Windows, linux or Mac which may explain why the command line is not more detailed.

Jeremy is the creator and I raised this issue here

I think you meant something else, but that would be also very good! I actually meant, I would like to have the default file option in TiddlyDesktop, so whenever I open TiddlyDesktop, it opens my default TW note file.😊

Clicking on .html file and open TW note would be awesome, but I guess you can't specify when the .html file is actually a TW file?

Yes different but the same because if you do use more than one you do need a way to get into the manager. If you can make an icon or command line to open the default you get your default wiki.I Actualy launch tiddlydesktop in startup sometimes so my first click opens my key wiki.

Perhaps you could illustrate a little more Your idea. And we pass that on to Jeremy in git hub.

The new v0.0.14 that should be released in the next few days adds a command line option to open one or more wikis at startup (identified by their file path).

Best wishes

Jeremy.

I forgot to add. With an association and command line options I can add an option on html files to open with, rather than the default browser, however I have also used a .tw extension which if sent to a browser, and I expect tiddlydesktop it still opens as it is defined as html internally.

I have posted a few times on this.

Tony I don't think that's the issue on Mac at least, you can always switch back to the manager by clicking the mini cat icon on the top macOS status bar and click "Wiki list".

So the idea is simple, I (and I guess their people who have their main TW note) would like the note open automatically full screen when I click on TiddlyDesktop app (no need to start at startup). This could be an option in the settings.

From my perspective, even though I am quite tech savvy, command line is not my preferred method of interacting with operating system. I like to open apps using the quick search (Spotlight) on my computer.

I have done some experimentation on this and it wasn’t promising. As things stand, opening a .tw file in TiddlyDesktop will display the file as text (and also crash TiddlyDesktop). I haven’t been able to find a simple way to force the Chromium to interpret the file as HTML.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

I will revisit again but I had timimi, node and tiddlyserver and others with this working.

I believe what is critical is the browser opens the html file and sees it is declared as html in its header. Regardless of the use of another extension I believe its working is demonstration of correct html file structure.

I won't regurgitate the arguments for the ability to use an extension here but the powerful reasons are.

Being able to identify tiddly wiki files on the host and treat the files as documents. This is even more pronounced with timimi allowing direct access and update of local wikis. This allows management of tiddlywiki with all the os tools available including search when many html files look the same.

The other is if we can assign tiddlywiki files to open in a nominated browser if not the default and in an "application" such as tiddlydesktop so a file accociation can be set. No need use command lines.

Other local smarts can be written if tiddlywiki files can easily identified. I already rename them to .hta and .aspx successfully.

Tony

Bumping this as having read the resulting conversation, it still doesn't seem like there is a solution. (It's possible that the command line thing could have something relevant to doing this but I'm not sure how myself.) It would be very nice to remove that extra step of opening the list to open the only wiki on it. It would also be cool if we could cause start menu tiles or other shortcuts to directly launch a particular wiki via TiddlyDesktop when there are multiple, again skipping the step of having to open the list in order to select one. No idea how easy or difficult this would be to make work, but reiterating the interest...

Hi All.

I'm just bumping this because this is driving me crazy. I can find a number of references to there being a command line option to have TiddlyDeskTop open a TiddlyWiki, but I can't find any actually reference to what that command line is! :-)

Thanks,
Ian.

Hi all,

Having the same issue. Maybe the timing will be better, now it's the week-end :)

Thanks,
