The Reddit about TiddlyWiki v5+ is very useful. https://www.reddit.com/r/TiddlyWiki5/

Particularly good is how it highlights major additions to TW5. It compliments this Google Group in lifting out widely useful things from the broad range of ongoing issues we discuss here.

Best wishes

As the admin of that subreddit, I take this post as a compliment.

I would like to make use of this opportunity to again raise the request to post your plugins/resources/implementations etc to the subreddit in addition to the group.

The subreddit also can serve as a starting point to the newcomers to find resources related to tiddlywiki as indexed here :https://www.reddit.com/r/TiddlyWiki5/wiki/index. The FAQ needs to be elaborated, I have been planning to do that for some time.

If you find your tiddlywiki missing from the list, please do let me know.

Also reiterated is the offer to share admin privileges with anyone who is an active developer of tiddlywiki or has a reddit karma of 500+. I have seen several attempts at indexing the tiddlywikis, and a lot of them dead because the one who maintained it got busy. It happens, to all of us. Hence the compelling need to make it a community effort.

Inputs? Suggestions?

Absolutely right.

I want to make a few comments. I was going to send them privately but realised they could be public.

(1) -- Documenting, as in "showing" TW is not as easy as more conventional on-line things ... essentially because lots of good stuff only has its primary existence off-line. When stuff is publicly available it tends to be demos rather than full operational TWs. That is not a criticism, just an observation.

(2) -- Previous documentation efforts about TW have tended NOT to use social media, rather have been dedicated small sites. I think that was a mistake because for documenting TW, which is an ongoing developmental flow, you need quick tools that require minimal input in order to simply register what is happening. Having to maintain a site & upload it is more work than is needed.

(3) -- This is one reason why I started TiddlyTweeter on Twitter. Its maintenance overhead for me is low. I only need read the Google Groups & check a few sites every couple of days for a few minutes. Then post updates. I am still learning TW myself but can see already that my Twitter account has had benefit to me and others.

(4) -- The total volume of "newness" everyday in TW is quite manageable. The DIFFICULTY is when you miss something at the time because the main Google Group relentlessly moves on and has NO mechanism that is used for marking significant events of long-lasting relevance.

(5) -- Reddit has more scope that Twitter for detail. And it can give a much better overview than Twitter. Its very useful to newbies and for when you need more detail. Once pages are setup, its relatively low maintenance too.

I'm doing Twitter, an environment I'm very familiar with, and on which I maintain several accounts in my different fields of interest. I could not take on work in Reddit because I give 30 minutes a day to Twitter & then draw a line. BUT I will definitely follow the Reddit account daily and send Riz notes of anything significant it misses. I think its a great initiative and addresses the lack of ongoing documentation of TW developments in a way that looks like it may well be able to be properly sustained over the long term.

Very best wishes
Josiah
