Introduction

A favorite item also called a bookmark is a shortcut, you are creating for quick access to it. You can access that bookmark at any time and view that as many times as you want without having to search and find it again.

Favorites plugin is a set of tool for creating favorites (bookmarks) in Tiddlywiki. Each favorite item is a shortcut to a tiddler.

The Favorites plugin contains three modes

  • flat mode: one favorite list, no folder
  • structured mode: use folder, search tool, export and delete tool
  • frozen list: read only, simple table of content style

Install

Packaged plugin
  1. Drag and drop $:/plugins/kookma/favorites into your wiki
  2. Save and reload your wiki
Client-Server installation (separate files)

It is highly recommended to backup your data before trying any new plugin! Do it before installing Favorites

Specific example: Using Favorites plugin

A Quick List

Assume you want to create a favorite list of all common operators in Tiddlywiki.com.

  • Open Favorites Manager from right sidebar
  • Open the Folders tab and create a new folder entitled Common Ops
  • Open one of tiddler tagged with Common Operators
  • Drag and drop the tag pill over newly created folder Common Ops
Remarks
It is assumed you have installed Favorites plugin on Tiddlywiki.com.
To open a tiddler with specific tab, search the tag name in standard search on the right side bar
On drag and drop to a folder, it is required to expand the folder
The Tiddlywiki.com is used only as a sample wiki

Assume you want to create a simple table of contents on Tiddlywiki.com using certain tiddlers.

    • Open Favorites Manager from right sidebar
    • Open the Folders tab and create as many as new folders you need
    • Populate your favorite list
      • by simply adding new items from viewtoolbar or by drag and drop of tag pills
    • oraganize your items using favorite folders
    • enable frozen list from Settings tab

    The below figure shows a frozen list as a simple of table of contents

    Remarks
    It is assumed you have installed Favorites plugin on Tiddlywiki.com.
    To open a tiddler with specific tab, search the tag name in standard search on the right side bar
    On drag and drop to a folder, it is required to expand the folder
    To enable Frozen list simply open $:/ControlPanel, Settings tab, Favorites tab and click the checkbox with Enable frozen list.

    Hi Mohammad

    Am I doing this wrong? Or is the demo link wrong? I click on the demo link, and the tiddler is not the favorites plugin. The list of 21 items in the Shiraz tutorials does not include Favorites. A search for Favorites in the search bar does not turn up anything.

    Ah, I see now. You have separated the tutorial from the demo. I have always gone straight to the demo link to get tutorials, and tuned out the other options. My bad. Still, it is confusing to make your top link a demo link and not have any indications in the file whatsoever. Blessings.

     Sorry, the demo link was wrong! You are right! Demo should open the demo wiki! It wrongly opened Shiraz!
    Favorites is a new independent plugin!

    The design of button on Folders tab is not quite good, hopefully I will improve it!
    But it gives you alot of flexibility to making structured favorite list and also simple table of contents (one level nesting seems enough in many cases!)

    Note that how you can create custom export list somehow similar to  Mario bundler!
    this can be done for selective list for deleting and like that.

    Tiddlywiki is endlessssss......
