After taking some time off from using Tiddlywiki (classic) I needed to use it again. I installed TiddlyDesktop 0.0.9 and launched my work which is saved on a local drive. Everything looked fine till I reloaded the file. Even though I'd made changes and it said they had been saved, it was the original unchanged file. I've played with it a bit and in the TiddlyDesktop everything looks normal, says it is saving, knows the right location, but nothing is saved. I've even searched all of my hard disks looking for any file created today. But nothing looks like it could be the saved TW.

Since I was already doing tests today on TiddlyDesktop, I downloaded a brand new classic and tested it. It seemed to actually save tiddler changes.

Just speculation -- I wonder if you have an older TWC that isn't saving with the new TD? One way to test would be to download a new empty TWC and see if you can get that to save.

Good luck,
Mark

Oh I'm sure it is old, it isn't the new fangled TW5 (I'd move over if I could find a theme that looked like the classic). The one I'm running says it is TiddlyWiki 2.8.1.

I have experienced the same problem with TW classic - I assumed it was the older version of TW Classic that was the problem. It might be good is someone has a suggested solution.

Try and import all the tiddlers from the old wiki into a new one and check it.

For everyone that still use TWC, I recommend do not use TiddlyDesktop (any version).

I use TWC daily due to a couple of TW's that cannot be converted to TW5 TW's due to the extensive use of customization and plugins and large amount of data.

The best solution to me is to have a portable version of an old version of FF for exclusive use of these TWC TW's. This version is very small, super fast, does not messes with other programs or options, and may run out of an USB. The only caveats are that it cannot be run with another FF version at the same time, and cannot open TW5 TW's.

Download the FF portable, almost any language you want, from:

Why would you not want to use TW Desktop for TWC? Personally if TWC could be used with TW Desktop that would be my preferred solution as it eliminates the issues with FF  and I want to use TWC locally anyway.

So ... couldn't you just upgrade to the most recent TWC and then use it with TiddlyDesktop?

Iain and Mark,
  1. Firefox Portable Legacy 36_3.6.28 (FPL)  is noticeable faster than TiddlyDesktop and does not have any issues with TWC;
  2. FPL may be used portable  (even running from an USB is faster that TW Deskop installed locally), and occupies less than half the size;
  3. FPL is able to run some TWC plugins that TiddlyDesktop cannot (e.g. LessBackupsPlugin by Simon Baird)
  4. My two TWC TW's are version 2.8.1; upgrading them to 2.9.0 beta 3 won't do anything;
I tried converting my two large and highly customized Gething Things Done (mGSD) TW's to TW5 Cardo 1.0. However, I believe Cardo is still in development. This task would be too much effort for half the gain at this point in time; maybe in the future.
