I've made 2 TiddlyWiki themes, which can be used on TiddlySpace or
TiddlyWiki (theoretically with a bit of configuration).

Neither of them have been tested yet in Internet Explorer (nor Opera),
but if you are using Firefox, Chrome or Safari they should look as
expected.

Caspian
######
The first is Caspian. For the record, I name my themes after family
pets (Caspian was a cat for those interested)
http://caspian.tiddlyspace.com/

I am using a slightly modified version of this for my homespace
http://jon.tiddlyspace.com - in conjunction with http://backstage.tiddlyspace.com
(see http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlywiki/browse_thread/thread/861ca2171c8d4ecc)

In this theme I've tried to strip away as much of the unnecessary
Tiddly<Space/Wiki> content as possible to make it as minimal as
possible - the side bar for instance is only 5 tabs "All Recent Tags
Spaces Missing" - these are based on what I find useful but by editing
SideBarTabs you can edit this to be what you use/require.

Lottie
#####
The second is Lottie (a rabbit if interested). This is probably much
more controversial as it completely removes the side bar, instead just
showing the recently modified tiddlers as default. This is my thinking
- the stuff that you have most recently edited is more likely to be
useful to you at this current time hence you make them available via
default tiddlers. If you need to find anything else your best/quickest
bet is to search for it.

Hope you like them. Feel free to modify/use/extend/eat them...

Is there a tiddler that could create a sort of filter pane (like in
itunes or Songbird) for the Tags?

These themes are nice. I like minimal themes. Lottie theme has such a
beautiful purple in the background.

Hi Jon!

> Neither of them have been tested yet in Internet Explorer (nor Opera),

The Lottie theme looks in IE exaclty like in FireFox; in Opera it is
close (user icons are not shown, but it can be because of lower-level
TS mechanisms, with the Opera representing many things in TS badly).
PS nope, in IE the ToolBar buttons are represented without pictures,
just as red blocks with text (view, more, close). It is also not due
to the theme, I guess.

Caspian theme in IE looks close: besides the ToolBar buttons, the tabs
don't fit in the width: one label becomes below the others. Since I
don't know any embedded inspectors in IE, I can't say what's
calculated wrong. In Opera, there's an extra (!) empty (!!) button
between "permaview" and "close all". Also, these buttons have corners
in IE and FireFox while don't have those in Opera (border-bottom-right-
radius: 5px; inherited from #sidebar .tools .button, as DragonFly
sais).

Best wishes,
Yakov

Heh, also Lottie looks nice, I must admit (though I'm not a fan of
minimalism). As for Caspian, I'd say there's too much space in the
right. This looks odd, feels like the space was reserved for smth
else :)

Good luck,
Yakov.

I'm not sufficiently motivated to fix the themes for IE and Opera (at
the current time) unless anyone wants to use it and requires IE
support.

As for Caspian's use of space, possibly they could be moved closer,
but the use of whitespace is intentional as it makes reading easier by
reducing the amount of text visitors see at once. It's also fixed
width so the larger your browser window the bigger the gap (but that's
what browser level zooming is for).

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.

Hi Jon

I like your minimalistic style very much - I've tried to use your
themes as "standalone" themes (systemTheme) in a "normal" TW.
1 tiddler pr theme. However this isn't quite possible, because they
consist of (at least) one or several extra stylesheets..
I noticed that the StyleSheetTiddlySpace stylesheets embedded in the
two themes are different - therefore I had to make two versions...

StyleSheetCaspian needs StyleSheetTiddler StyleSheetTiddlySpace and
the tiddler Caspian in addition to the specific PageTemplate and Edit-
and ViewTemplates...

> Lottie
StyleSheetLottie needs StyleSheetTiddlySpace(another version - I
choose to call it StyleSheetTiddlySpace2), the specific PageTemplate
and Edit- and ViewTemplates...

I really like many of the new themes which appear on @themes, however
I think it's a shame that they are not provided as isolated themes
(systemTheme) - and that they use tweaked versions of the
StyleSheetTiddlySpace tiddler, which makes it even more difficult to
adapt them side by side with other themes....

Thank you for sharing these new themes - they *do* indeed look
minimalistic, however adopting them isn't quite as simple as I would
like :-)

Will you consider to make the buttons in the alternative
SideBarOptions panel [[Caspian]]
work from the colorpalette??
If you do this, the RandomColorPlugin will be able to change the
button colors to follow changes made to the ColorPalette...

How does the class ".loggedInUser.readOnly #sidebar" affect the
visibility of the sidebar in a normal TW? (if it does)

When I open my "normal TW" in readonly mode, and shift theme to
Caspian, there is no visible sidebar [[Caspian]], however it is
visible if I shift mode to writable....
Try it out:
http://maans.bplaced.net/TiddlyHome/temaer##Caspian
Click on "tema" choose "StyleSheetCaspian" - no visible SideBar -
then click the checkbox"redigér til/fra" and the SideBar is appearing
to the left!!
(themeswitcher is called "tema" and "redigér til/fra" means: edit on/
off... in danish )

If I however open the Caspian theme directly via Url - the SideBar is
visible even if it's readonly??!!
index.html#txtTheme:StyleSheetCaspian StyleSheetCaspian")

Maybe this is a question for @Eric -
When using ShiftThemePlugin: if a shadowtiddler hasn't been
overwritten yet - it will not show in readonlymode, - however it
*will* show if it's opened directly via Url ... Is this a correct
observation?

If I open any theme directly from a paramifier ie
"#txtTheme:StyleSheetCaspian StyleSheetCaspian" then I get *many*
sideeffects, when using the SwitchTheme selector - all the other
themes go *crazy* when I have the paramifier in the addressline - It's
as if the directly opened theme has overwritten the shadowtiddlers and
all other themes are now suffering from this....

Your thoughts?
