Hi everyone

I would love your feedback on NoteStorm http://www.giffmex.org/NoteStorm.html I made it even easier and faster to take notes.

The only thing that would make this better is to have a bookmarklet like the old TiddlySnip, which I experimented with and it didn't work for this.

I am wondering if this would be a good one for TiddlySpot to add to its templates for its users.

Notestorm2 is the only tiddlywiki that I can get to import reliably. I think it's pretty slick even if I'm having trouble grasping the concept of the index and notes under it.  It's my limitation, there surely is plenty of tutorial  information available.

Thanks Tom. NoteStorm is weird in that it turns TiddlyWiki on its head a bit. The tiddler titles and tags become less relevant, and tiddler content is placed front and center. You can create indexes that are galleries of images, notes, etc so you can quickly browse your notes on a topic rather than browse the tiddler titles only. Definitely not for everyone, but I think it is a great way to display topics or create image galleries.

Hi David,

from what I assume is your target group, here are some potential 'unclarities' (straight from the website, not downloaded):

"random note" doesn't yield anything other than blank for me. Not sure it is a needed feature to begin with, by the way.
There are small minus signs to the right and left of the " + = - " part.
The right show index arrow would be better placed more floating right.
I almost completely missed the tabs in the front tiddler! I.e the grayed out text, "Using NoteStorm" etc. This may actually be because I'm an experienced TW user though, i.e I probably subconscoiusly assumed this was a toolbar and therefore did not actively look at it.
Under "Using NoteStorm" is says how to create new indexes... maybe this is seen in the downloaded verision, but not in the online one.

I also have some purely aesthetical opinions:
Tiddler text is unnecessarily right indented from the title.
Would like the left index title (NoteStorm) to be a bit more indented (but not the index content)
I'd prefer the top bar items more spaced out.
Tiddler toolbar is also in a funny place, I'd prefer it more to the right but also lower down. (Because you use much space between title and text, maybe you could have the toolbar under the text?)

Hope this is of any value. All best.

Hi...twgrp!

Thanks for your valuable feedback. I am leaving soon for a weeklong business trip but hope to make some changes based on your suggestions and feedback.

But for the moment I can explain one thing: random note won't yield anything until you create notes. Since the file is free of notes, there is nothing to see.

Funny, the lines between the menu items at the top were my attempt to space the items out, but near the +=- they do indeed confuse things.

I hadn't looked at notestorm in a while.  Very intriguing, nice minimalist look.  I was wondering about the tiddler names as date/time though.  The only place where it might break down is that they show up as the tiddler titles at the tabs at the top, and that seems a bit out of context from the flow of everything else.   If you could somehow get the tiddler's "pseudoname" (i.e. first line of the tiddler) up there, maybe that would also help.

I found I was getting lost at first without borders and things to orient me.  You could probably keep the clean feel but still give a bit of structure by coloring the tiddler background very slightly darker vs the background perhaps.

very nice work!!

Hi everyone

Thank you all for your suggestions and encouragement. I made some changes based on your suggestions:

1. Removed the dashes between the top toolbar and spread the items out.

2. Put a light gray border around the note tiddlers since at least one person felt there was too much white space. I didn't want to change the actual background color for the tiddlers. Played with changing the background color of the display area, but I didn't like it.

3. Changed the color of the unselected tabs so that it is clearer that they are tabs and not a toolbar.

4. Finally got around to adjusting the hover color for buttons.

5. "Centered" the title 'NoteStorm'

For those who want to incorporate these changes, the only tiddlers you need to import, or else copy and paste, are StyleSheet, Indexes, Story Menu, and StyleSheetTiddlersBar.

Is it possible to change the site favicon? I understand that the specification for this is given in MarkUpPostHead tiddler. I deleted it from my local Notestorm and yet the blue USB icon is still displayed.

Hi Dave. I'm a little confused with NoteStorm version naming. If I go to the link you mentioned http://www.giffmex.org/NoteStorm.html it shows "NoteStorm - 1.0.1" (?) not "NoteStorm 2", despite the tidllers have been created after your NS2 announcement date. But for example there is'nt "New notelist" button, which leads me to think I'm in the incorrect version.

Could you give some ligth on this?

Thanks in advance. Regards,
Maikel
