Hi all

Somehow I got obsessed with this idea and have been playing off an on for a week. I would love your feedback on how I could make this experimental TW better. Create toc items from within the toc, etc. I have a list of things there that I still want to do, and for two of them I need your help.

http://giffmex.org/experiments/note.slam.template.notready.html

I will be gone on a trip this weekend, so I will not have time to respond till next week. Thanks in advance for your input!

Blessings,

This looks very promising! I've nothing to offer but like what you're doing.

David,

I like the way this allows one to rapidly build a heirachy, smooth and clear. I am unsure however how to display the same tree perhaps in a traditional TOC

To me this would be a great additional tool for heiracies that I then go on to use in other ways.

I am working on a sophisticated outliner  which serves a similar but different functions. It would be nice if the two were compatible.

Regards
Tony

The toc looks good and I like the functionality but the rest of the layout is a bit of a mess on mobile.

Thanks Muhammad, Tony and Ste.

@TONY

Add this to a tiddler, and that should do what you want. Full toc, no pluses or links. I only added the plus buttons to the selective-expandable part of the toc macro.

<div class="tc-table-of-contents">
<<toc "tocentry">>
</div>

@STE

Yes, mobile is a drawback for this setup. I confess freely that I have no interest doing anything for mobile. It is beyond my ability, and I think small screens are too restrictive for this kind of tool. Perhaps someone could do a mobile version of this with a menu that pulls out over top of the story river by dragging a handle. But the toc contents would still look ugly on a screen that is not wide enough.

David,

I love the + buttons. I would like to build complex hierarchical trees using this + feature, then open the same tree in an alternate to viewer based on TWOutlier

TWOutlier is designed to edit tiddlers to the right of the TOC, I can see you have seen it already.

The Viewer I am building is also wrapping a lot of smarts around the current tiddler displayed.

In a somewhat related area I am planning to introduce a ultimate and penultimate field to tiddlers such that if this field contained for example TableOfContents a TOC based on the TableOfContents tag would on encountering the
penultimate field would only list the children of that tiddler and not the grand children.
ultimate field would only list the current tiddler not its children grand children.

Regards
Tony

Hi Tony

I haven't played around with your Outlier for a couple weeks. I imagine you could add the Outlier json to NoteSlam and add an outlier toc to a tiddler. But I am not clear why you would want to do that.

It will be interesting to see the penultimate and ultimate feature you mention. Blessings.

Hi everyone

Here is what I consider to be the final version of NoteSlam, unless you guys make a suggestion I can't resist. Feel free to use, share, adapt, publish your own version, etc.
