Only for Windows with Chrome users

Summary (if link dies):

In Chrome: Settings > More tools > Add to desktop... If possible, check the "Open as window" option to have the to-be app open as a window, seemingly not the browser.

This creates icon link on desktop.

Bonus: Follow up with right click on icon and pin to taskbar.

Mat,

I use this quite a bit for any website I need to access regularly, but since (until now) I love FireFox I have not being using it for my TWC.

I also make use of the Users in Chrome to create separate accounts on my desktop, each with a shortcust, each user can have different tabs/favorites and Google logins although installing lastpass in each chrome user, allows me to use any credentials in any browser. Interestingly if you create the "to be app" as a particular user, when you open the app, it may open a separate browser window with that user.

This separate user accounts method is also available in firefox (profiles), but its a little less user friendly.

I use chrome more now with tiddlywikis available at IP Addressed, NodeJS TiddlyServer eytc..

Regards
Tony

It doesn't seem to want to do this for local files.

I See,

That may of being why I started using Different Users, because you can have a user login shortcut, and in that, one (or the only tab) can be a local file. But Of Course if you TiddlyWiki is at localhost or through tiddlyserver or nodeJS such as http://192.168.1.109:8088/Local-Instances/index.html this you can create a browser "App".

Just mentioning that it is also possible in android. You can add to homescreen, change icon and it will behave like an app in everything that matters, including having a separate window, appearing in switch-between-apps.

With the latest update, even the links originating from such a window will open in the same window. This is particularly useful in Tiddlyserver. I have created a homepage for all my TW, open to that page once tiddlyserver starts, and move from there.
