Recently I decided to try out NoteSelf. I like the way that it works offline and online. I like that you can recover if you delete all your browser data since it syncs with CouchDB.

I would really like to have the offline/online/sync notification button visible all the time without having to have the Page Toolbar open all the time. Ton's Top toolbar makes a great solution (for me) to this as I already like using it. It works well on mobile (at least on my Android Firefox).

Ton's Top toolbar has a huge list of tools you can add. Noteself adds (at least one). I call it the cloud button. You use it to go online (login) but it doesn't show up in the Top toolbar settings and I can't figure out how to add it. Could someone help me out here?

Hi Lost Admin,

I did not use Noteself myself so the answer will be general.
All buttons in the Page toolbar are tagged with $:/tags/PageControls
So search voor $:/tags/PageControls in Advanced search and find the "cloud" button tiddler
Add the tag $:/tags/TopLeftBar to that tiddler and the button will show up in the top toolbar as well.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Ton

Thanks Ton,

That is exactly what I wanted. It showed up in my top-toolbar and there is now a checkbox the toolbar settings page to turn it on/off.

For anyone else who wants to do this:

Add the tag "$:/tags/TopLeftBar" to the tiddler "$:/plugins/danielo515/tiddlypouch/ui/sync-flag" in the empty NoteSelf file (the one that is hosted on a web server) before setting-up the Cloudant/CouchDB.

You may also want to set the "caption" and "description" fields in "$:/plugins/danielo515/tiddlypouch/ui/sync-flag" since those are used in the toolbar settings.

Note: If you don't understand what I wrote above, you probably don't want to do this. :-)
