Announcement: LoginCurtain-mod
Date: 2020/09/22
Release: 1.0.0

Hi everyone
I just want to announce my mod of the loginCurtain. This is a mod of the very cool logincurtain plugin by Jan (JJ).

Audience: For multi user wiki's

Function: blocks the wiki until a username is set. This way no one forgets to set a username before editing the wiki. NB: this is not a lock or encryption of the wiki.

Jan (JJ) made the hard work with his plugin by blocking the UI until the username is set in a login prompt.

In this mod, I
  • make the UI more professional (e.g. boring) for use in the workplace
  • present an interface for picking a pre-made user.
  • provide a user management tab in Control Panel/Info/login-settings.
  • a button to create a user tiddler that also shows what tiddlers the user has made or modified.
  • customisations of buttons, text and icons in Control Panel/Info/login-settings.

HC,

Love it, as usual someone beat me to it. and did a better job.

I was making something similar or even more complex when I realised as you have just forcing a user name is important.

I was going to call this, than login "WHO ARE YOU?"

Thanks for doing this
Tones

Thanks... Oh I know that feeling when you have been working on something and pling, the other guy made it.. bitter sweet - I was so close but this other thing is good. Any way hope you can use it and feel free to mod the mod.

you could edit the text ( in settings) to "WHO ARE YOU?"and "ARE YOU WHO" ;)

Announcement: LoginCurtain-mod
Date: 2020/09/28
Release: 1.1.0

In this version I have added log of when/by who the wiki is opened. It can be enable it in settings-panel.

But after making it, I got thinking. What is the point? is this useful?? I am not realy sure. I mean you have a log when people make an edit anyway, and if you want to hide that you use the wiki, you could always just type another name. any way, it is there now and you can toggle it as you like.
What do you think do this feature make any sense?

Changelog

v1.1.0

  • [new] added log of when/by who the wiki is opened. enable it in settings-panel.

  • adds a log of when/by who the wiki is opened. enable it in settings-panel. (is this useful for anything, as you can type any username?? idk)

HC

For many such a log may rarely be used however;
  • A log can be useful, especially if we also log logouts, saves and reloads especially since we could build searches or lists around this.
  • Many systems have such logs by default so people may expect to find it anyway
  • It can help in debugging when building supporting multi-access multi-user solutions
  • Logging follows a principal I like and it is to avoid any lost of information that is available to you.
    • For example some users may login regularly but not make changes because to them its a reference.

On the question of user name
  • I am developing something and I consider the default user name just a "created modified by "stamp"" and Store I a registered user name elsewhere.
So you can't type "Any username"

If you are interested in working on a more advanced user login tool, perhaps join me in a project.

Regards
Tones

If using the plugin with mat's material theme, some of the UI was not hidden by the login prompt. This is fixed and the z-value can be changed in the settings panel, to avoid possible future troubles.

Dear Tony
Thanks for the invitation. I have been occupied by life stuff for some time, so no energy for TW. As it has been quite some time I guess you have moved on. But if not, sure I join you. Interested to see what you are doing.

I have no constructive feedback yet, but I'm extremely grateful that work continues in this area! I feel like the multi-user folks are not as vocal here, but we appreciate the hard work in putting these together! I've put something really basic together for my team's own purposes, but excited to check this out :)
