Trying to export tiddlers, need help

I'm attempting to follow the tutorial here:

and can't seem to complete it.

The third line of this:
--render [!is[system]] [encodeuricomponent[]addsuffix[.html]] \
--render [!is[system]] [encodeuricomponent[]addsuffix[.meta]] \
text/plain $$:/core/templates/tiddler-metadata
won't run, and the .html files that are outputted contain no formatting.

Any ideas?

Just a guess, since I didn't want to wade through the entire tutorial, but that double $ doesn't look right. Usually the templates only have a single $.
