Hello,

I'm new to the group, but I've been using TiddlyWiki for about 10 years. A friend introduced me to the idea and I have never looked back.

However, the saving thing has become a bit of an issue. I've used a few alternatives of saving methods but really would like to be able to save to the folder of my choice just by clicking the save icon (without the extra steps). I'm lazy.

Yesterday, I decided to try Twexe. I have three wikis for different projects and while two worked perfectly, the third one keeps coming back with an "Internal JavaScript Error". I have ensured Java has been updated, I ensured Twexe was the latest version. I tried it using the Brave browser and Edge. I'm using TiddlyWiki version 5.1.14, however, the two that works are version 5.1.9. Is there a way to update these existing wikis to the latest version 5.1.22?

But that's not my question. What I really want to know is why am I getting an internal javascript error on the third wiki? FYI, this particular wiki is quite large and contains 103 images. Could this be the reason? How can I get around this? Any suggestions, ideas would be appreciated. I could try cutting and pasting each and every page in the wiki, but that will take me a very long time and I don't really want to do that. Please help.

kind regards,
Karen

TWexe is getting really old. I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks with newer TW files.

Since you're obviously on a desktop, have you tried timimi? It should work with the new (Chromium) edge (it does on my system). Brave is also chromium based, so there should be some way for it to work on that as well. Once you have it installed, you hardly have to think of it again.

You didn't mention the total size of your TW file. If it was large enough, there might be a delay serving up the tw file, leading to errors. But that's just a guess.

good luck

If you get Timimi working and would like to upgrade your tiddlywiki go to https://tiddlywiki.com/upgrade but if you are using lots of pluigns, you must search to find updates for them . Be careful if you have written over core tiddlers. The latest version is 5.1.23.

Good luck.

Hello all,

Thank you for the replies. I didn't realise Twexe has been at a standstill since 2015. As a test, I upgraded one of the TiddlyWikis that worked fine in Twexe and put it through again, and ... surprise, surprise ... got that same Internal Javascript Error. So, it wasn't my large wiki that was the issue, it just wasn't compatible with Twexe.

As suggested, I installed Timimi and fiddled around with that for a while and finally got it working perfectly. Thank you for that suggestion.

I also want to thank Birthe for the upgrade information. I've upgraded all three wikis and now have them all saving exactly where I want them to. I'm one happy user.

I hope you're all enjoying the weekend.

kind regards,
Karen
