Hello all :)

Here is my first post (just a
newbie and humble computer user).

TiddlyWiki seems a really good option to manage information (I intend to use it in combination with mind mapping software), but before starting using TiddlyWiki I need to know if it is an application that in the future, even distant, will allow to access the valuable information stored in my tiddlers.

Thank you very much for this seemed wonderful system for information management.

Hi, Eneko :)

You might want to look/join in on this thread, started by Bruno Wassermann.

Warmly welcome! :-) Check out these:

In practice

Further, everything is stored in plain "html sight" in the html file.

That said, nobody is guaranteed to be alive even tomorrow.

If you intend to use TW with mindmapping, you might want to google TiddlyMap too.

BTW, may I ask how you found out about TW? Just the other day a fellow board member mentioned TW on Quora in reply to a mindmapping question... so just curious to know if you happened to find TW via that post?

Welcome Eneko,

As Zaphod pointed out, my response would be basically the same as at the other thread. ... HTML is all text. So as long as you have a text editor, you can pull out your data.

If browser vendors, keep backwards compatibility with javascript, you should be fine in the years to come, with the full functionality :)

TiddlyWiki also has the possibility to "export" every single tiddler as a separate html file. see: http://tiddlywiki.com/#Generating%20Static%20Sites%20with%20TiddlyWiki So you can have every tiddler be one html file , or see them all together. which doesn't need any javascript at all.

have fun!

This is a good thread
.
IMO ordinary users are not getting the best from TW. Browsers have imposed limits that have made TW sometimes CUMBERSOME. Its not its fault, but its a reality.

To answer Eneko's question: YES your data WILL be safe. BUT you may have to LEARN a bit  about how different browsers save TiddlyWikis.

Best wishes
Josiah

Of course. I was searching for information about mind mapping software and found a reference to TiddlyWiki in –if I recall correctly– Wikipedia. Now, I have not been able to find the reference, sorry.

I would prefer to have the information available without not have to pull out it—devoting time to productive, pleasurable ;), tasks.

If browser vendors, keep backwards compatibility with javascript…

Browsers aim to search & display online information. TW is an optimized system for information management. It is a good approach to use the same technology for so different objectives? (Sorry about this kind of questions; I guess you have worked hard creating, optimizing and maintaining TW.)

I will analyze all the information that you have provided me. Thank you very much.

In our Computer Age it would be wonderful to enjoy effective tools for manage the exponentially growing ocean of knowledge, overwhelming but also wonderful.
