Hi,

The icon for hiding the sidebar is a nice addition from an UI perspective, and it opens the way to further improvements.

I think it could be useful, for medium and big screens, to have in the story river not only one column of (very wide) tiddlers, but two or more columns of tiddlers. Something like the masonry of mini-tiddlers in the Community tiddler in tiddlywiki.com

I guess it is not something easy to achieve, but what do you think of the idea?

Hi

This would be a useful feature when the siderbar is hidden --- perhaps a facility for exchanging the sidebar for another column of tiddlers would do the trick.

Hi Matabele, that's the idea.

I am also interested in multi-column displays. At a minimum, we would have a button to add a new story column, and the ability to drag and drop tiddlers between columns.

There's also the slightly simpler idea of a story view that stacks tiddlers horizontally instead of vertically (something like the in-progress Cecily view).

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for your answer.

What is the Cecil view? Is that used on the community view?

Hi Danielo

"Cecily" was the codename for an adaptation of TiddlyWiki Classic that I wrote in 2008:

(Double click on the background to summon a control panel).

I've begun work on porting Cecily to TW5; you can try it out on http://tiddlywiki.com by selecting "cecily" under the "tools" tab in the sidebar. Right now it just lays tiddlers out in a horizontal stack.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Hi Danielo,

What is the Cecil view? Is that used on the community view?

Its an experimental zoomable user interface.

If you want to see it in action, go to tiddlywiki.com > sidebar > tools, and change the "Current view" to cecily.

Pulling this up to see if there is any update for this feature request.

Thanks!

Not directly, no. But I have been working on the text-slicer plugin, which introduces an additional story column for document preview:

Thanks!

Thanks Jeremy. Hope this feature gets used in other use cases as well.

Bumping this old thread: I agree this would be a fantastic feature. Especially to be able to drag/drop titles between 2 story rivers side-by-side. Or to be able to edit a tiddler in one river, while scrolling and referencing information in the other river.  Any chance this will eventually be possible?

Not exactly what you're asking for but http://sideeditor.tiddlyspot.com/ is a tool I use all the time, that lets you do this.

Another possibility:  Display tiddlers in two columns
