The upcoming TiddlyWiki v5.2.0 is now – finally – ready for release. I’m hoping to get it out over the weekend so this is a final request for help with last minute checks.

It’s a huge release, with many very significant changes from a diverse range of contributors. Please join me in thanking them all for working so hard to make this release such an exciting one.

It would be useful to have feedback on the release note, and whether the descriptions of the changes make sense. Some of the changes are necessarily technical things that won’t concern all users, but the aim is for the writing to be clear enough that anyone can get the general drift.

It would also be a great help if you could try an experimental upgrade of your own wikis, and give them a once over to make sure everything still works as expected.

It is recommended to not actually switch over to the new version at this point; just give it a try with your own data, but don’t upgrade fully until the official release.

The upgrader is at:

Any feedback or questions are welcome,

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Hi Folks,

Since it is a BIG release I think it is important to say, that if you rely on 3rd party plugins, please test carefully, if all your plugins still work before switching to the new release. May be some plugins need to be updated. ...

have fun!

Silly question: is anybody tracking what 3rd party plugins need upgrading to work with TW5.2?

A compatibility matrix of some kind to let people know they should maybe upgrade certain plugins first?

A big job for anybody to go test every plugin out there, but I'm thinking not so bad if one person (or many) updated a compatibility matrix based on user reports.

Having just upgraded five TiddlyWiki instances in a row, the only thing I'd love to see improved: could the name of the file dragged into the upgrade wizard show somewhere?  For each TiddlyWiki I upgraded, I kept forgetting which one I was dealing with (as I was saving upgraded TiddlyWiki files.)

That aside, the process is A-1 and a quick look reveals zero hiccups.  (I may have more time tomorrow to dig into the weeds, if release only happens Sunday.  Sunday afternoon, to me, sounds like a great time for TiddlyWiki church ... )

I doubt any of my TiddlyWikis are of any size or architectural/design significance, but just in you do want some variety, here are some pre-5.2 versions:

Is there a way to test the 5.20 final RC with server mode (simple way) please?

My main project is impacted. Some of my macros dealing with json tiddlers are broken. They use the two plugins //modloader// and //json mangler//.

On the positive side, it seems that my tiddlers that were too large are now automatically corrected to fit in the current width of the main story.

The "master" branch at GitHub contains the prerelease. There are instructions here:

Thank you – any details here would be helpful. What versions of those plugins are you using? Which macros are affected?

Excellent – do you mean that the tiddler content previously overflowed its background? Perhaps you could share a screenshot?

I find the release notes to be excellent. Looks like a lot of work. Thanks to all who put in the effort!

Any feedback or questions are welcome,

https://tiddlywiki.com/prerelease/plugins/tiddlywiki/innerwiki/ - this wiki doesn't look right to me. Are there issues with the new release and the innerwiki plugin? On that page I'm seeing all the innerwikis are blank. Only the SVG overlays appear.

Affected macros... diifcult to say. I don't use them directly, I use them via filters in my own macros. Here's a sample code of things I do:

===
<$list variable=campaign filter="[<dataset>indexes[]sortsub<by-name>]">
  <$log $$message="next campaign" $$filter=campaign/>
  <$set name=aim filter="[<campaign>subfilter<by-aim>]" select=0>
  <$set name=url filter="[<campaign>subfilter<by-url>]" select=0>
  <$set name=pages filter="[<campaign>addprefix[WEB_]addsuffix[-web]]">
  <$wikify name=start text="<<frenchDate dataset campaign start>>">
  <$wikify name=end text="<<frenchDate dataset campaign end>>">
  <$log $$message="start & end" $$filter="start end url"/>
  <$macrocall $name=_projectCampaignRow campaign=<<campaign>> aim=<<aim>> url=<<url>> start=<<start>> end=<<end>> pages=<<pages>>/>
  </$wikify></$wikify>
  </$set></$set></$set>
</$list>
===

I don't know what to look for.
