Trying this out, and I've spent the past day trying to figure out how to save my work.  I followed everything possible (spent a good 3 hours looking to see what I'm doing wrong), but I always end up with the same problem.  I attempt to save to web, and it always says username or password missing.  I have filled out a username, and I have filled out a password, and it still complains about the same thing.

I fill in the tiddlyspot password in the WelcomeToTiddlyspot, What Now? section, and save this password on this computer is checked.  When I click Save to Web, it tells me username or password is missing.  I go to options, and fill in tiddlyspot password and username for signing edits, and even after that, it still says missing username or password.

So it appears all my work is lost.  I've done this now 3 times, starting from scratch, ending up the same way.  There is no documentation that tells you what username or password it is looking for.  This is my last ditch effort.  If I can't get this to work, I'm just walking away from this.

Hi Ron,

What browser are you using? It may be that — while eventually able to save the hosted wiki — Firefox is unsuitable for uploading from a local machine to TiddlySpot. Have you tried using Chrome?

Next time you create a new wiki on TiddlySpot:
  1. go to http://tiddlywiki.com/empty.html
  2. enter site and password in controlpanel
  3. hit save to do the initial upload from the online version
To get going now, do the above, then drag and drop your local wiki onto the online version.

Best wishes,

Tobias.

Note that:

  • Username refers to the tiddlyspot name, e.g foobar in http://foobar.tiddlyspot.com. It is NOT the "signing edits name".
  • Also, I'm guessing yo want a TW5 on your  tiddlyspot. The very first upload of a TW5 from outside of the tiddlyspot server (e.g from your local drive or directly from e.g tiddlywiki.com/empty) up to tiddlyspot, should not be done on Firefox. For the rest of your saving of your updates there, FF will work fine (but make sure you've entered the username (the tiddlyspot name) and the password in the Ctrlpanel).

Once it's up on tiddlyspot it's really smooth.

BTW, I've detailed a quick way to create a new TW5 tiddlyspot in some other thread, if you do a search. (Personally, what I would love to see is to be able to create a tiddlyspot AND upload in one go, i.e from the TW in front of you. Beyond my skills tho, but TiddlySpot server owner Daniel Baird expressed liking of the idea...)
