I am VERY new to TiddlyWiki (as of this morning) and I want to use it
as a digital version of my lab notebook for my research. Is there an
easy way to change the created date to match my notebook entries?

open the html file with a text editor, scroll to the bottom, edit
whatever you wish to edit, save.

Thanks... I feel like a fool. I had tried that before but when I
opened the file back up I got an error. I must have messed something
else up.

But still... is it possible to make a plugin that allows this from the
interface? I will probably need to do this a lot and that would help a
great deal.

see http://www.tiddlytools.com/#InlineTiddlerTweaker

To use this inline script, you will first need to install
http://www.tiddlytools.com/#InlineJavascriptPlugin

InlineTiddlerTweaker generates a droplist of all tiddler titles, along
with fields to display/enter create date, modified date, and modifier
(author). Just select a tiddler to fill the fields with the current
data, change it, and press "set"...

Note: this script intentionally does NOT mark the tiddlers as
'changed', so it is important for you to **remember to save your
document**, since there will be no "unsaved changes" warning when you
exit.

(if you haven't yet learned how to install plugins, do a quick search
of these google discussions and I'm sure you can find many helpful
summaries of how to proceed...)
