Hi all,

Is there such a plugin for inserting emoticons into your tiddlers?

I can't remember all my emoticons code ... probably due to old age :
( Am looking for a simple one only, like maybe inserting ASCII
emoticons.

What am looking for is for example, you are typing something and you
want to put an emoticon at the end of the sentence or paragraph, you
click on the plugin and it will insert an emoticon, its kinda like
inserting a graphic or image.

Any suggestion or response will be much appreaciated. Thanks in
advance,

I know of two smiley plugins (one of them I have tried myself)
This plugin has dissapeared from the web and I don't have a copy :-( . It was very simple to use and needed no embedded graphics in your TW..
I haven't used it, and I don't know how it works...

Eric's setIconPlugin can be used -...

Hi newbie01,

A copy of the first plugin Måns mentions (author Alan Hecht) can be
found at [1]

I'm not sure how it's done but I've also seen it here:
http://gjrobert.tiddlyspace.com/

I've not got any interest in doing such a thing, but it wouldn't be
too hard to write a formatter that would turn any strings that
match :) into a smiley

I think smileys can lower language barrieres and add expressive visualtions to microcontent which is good and often fun. (if the available set of icons is complete and nuanced enough)
I'd vote for a collection consisting of:(original TiddlySpace svg) icons covering a spectrum of eight to sixteen different emoticons, either for wikitext insertion by clicking an icon from a toolbar or simply by writing sth like:

 :???:

Thanks for the link, however I don't think its the exact same version I have used some time ago.
The version I used had some examples in the plugin text
I found a copy/crippled code in an oold TW, and posted it here (it shows usage examples)
I wonder if it shouldn't be quite easy to turn it into a transclusion and have a simple/updatable config-list of graphics and symbols (embedded or external) to choose from??

I wonder if the topic that Bauwe Bilj concerns himself with covers this area?
I can see the value of 'cool emoticons' - i personally detest the
little acid house face - but some sleek enhancements might be
interesting.
Jeremy's espoused purpose for TiddlyWiki - that of creating a unique
writing style - could emerge to form a kind of wikitext hieroglyphic
revolution.
