Hey there,

I'm quite new to TiddlyWiki but very excited so far!

For my studies I created a personal acronym dictionary:
For each acronym, I have a Tiddler with the title holding the acronym itself and an additional field to hold the full meaning of the acronym (important to me because I use the text for other stuff). Then, I created a template which lets me transclude the full meaning of acronyms.

Hence, you could for example create a Tiddler "TW5" with the field acronym containing "Tiddly Wiki 5" and transclude it through the template so that it would show up as "...Tiddly Wiki 5 (TW5)..." where the TW5 in brackets is a link to the actual Tiddler.

I'm quite happy so far. So here comes the question: Is there an easy possibility to show the long version of the acronym (which is hold in the additional field called acronym) in the default view of the Tiddler?
Maybe I should add that I tag all acronyms with - guess what - acronym.

Sorry for having so much "acronym"s in here ;-)

Looking forward to hear your suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Best,
Mat

Hi Mat - I'm surprised to see Google Allows for users to use the same user name in a group (I'm also Mat). Would it be rude to ask if you could use another one on this board? I've used Mat here for a long time.

To answer your question: It is in fact very simple!

Just write {{!!acronym}} in any tiddler and tag it $:/tags/ViewTemplate

If there is no acronym field, nothing will show.

Hey Mat,

sorry for stealing your name, I switched to another one. Didn't mean to impersonate you ;-)

Thank's for your instant reply. I'll check that out.

Cheers,
(now) Zingr

Thanx Ma... er, Zingr! I really appreciate it! :-)

BTW, you may wish to name that tiddler something like $:/_acronyms
The $ at start (...or maybe it's all three characters, $:/ ) turns it into a system tiddler meaning it's a bit hidden, but you can still easily find it under sidebar tab More and System. The underscore _ puts it at top of that list.
