search and find end of lines, and tab characters

How a simple filter in TW 5.1.20 or older can find and list all end-of lines (so counts number of lines) in a tiddler?

Please use only core feature specially from TW 5.1.20.

Is \n universal on all browsers? Not sure. Probably, since it's all js.
