TWITS not opening tw:s with åäö

I am trying with tiddlywiki 2.7.0 and can't make it work with Swedish characters åäö ÅÄÖ.
I put <meta name="utf8beacon" content="éçñøåá—" /> right after <head> as per these instructions.
But get "error: this is not a tiddlywiki.."
(I also tried putting it in MarkupPreHead shadow tiddler, but get the same results)
When I remove the "utf8beacon" the file works again, but I get problems with the Swedish characters.

I'm sorry you've been having problems. Could you check whether you can make it work with TiddlyWiki 2.6.5? (downloadable from http://tiddlywiki.com/archive)

No, the exact same thing happens with version 2.6.5
I am using Linux and Firefox at the moment.
