Hi folks,

I use and depend on a large TiddlyWiki Classic wiki daily. Of late we seem to have returned to the unreliable days before tiddlyfox.

I believe I am running the latest FireFox on the general release channel (is that what its called), At this moment I can't check, because for the second occasion in a row I have unsaved tiddlers, and a mostly or non responding firefox. I imagine I will have to abandon my changes (Very annoying) before I get any responses here.

I recently upgraded tiddlyfox, and have successfully saved using the Green Ball. Due to some long days, I have not rebooted my PC for 3 days and went to make a safety save of my tiddlywiki and now FF is in some kind of not responding loop. Looking at the file system I discovered no WikiBackup or save has occurred for 3 days. I use this for my business and will loose some critical info.

I have tried to invoke the developers tools with no luck so far.

Does anyone know some methods to try and stop whatever rogue process is taking place in my current FireFox Session so I may at least review and manually capture the changes I have made in my TiddlyWiki, even if I cant save it in this session. Multiple saves and exports failed.

After resolving (or not) the Current issue I need what ever advice I can get to ensure this does not reoccur.

Yours Desperately
Thanks in Advance
Tony

So FF closed, lost my data, so Sad.

On restarting FF I received a notice that Ff was applying some updates, So I expect the update process could have interfered with my ability to save.

SO here are the specs,

FF Sync was on

TiddlyWiki for FireFox 2.0.1 installed

No idea or diagnostics available?

Regards
Tony

Hi Tony,

The fact that you have been able to save using the latest version of tiddlyfox, and you have clicked the cat icon for this particular TW, makes me think your problem is with Firefox. I have had similar problems, after having used it for a longer period.  I have even had it break down a couple of times. Are you using lots of plugins and extensions? Disable what you do not need - if at all possible.
I realise that you will not be able to read this page now https://www.werockyourweb.com/firefox-memory-leak/ but you might find some advice to avoid repeating the problem in the future.

I wish you the best,
Birthe

Birthe,

Thanks, I will look into that. I looked to see if FF was updated underneath me and found the following

So perhaps this is a case of unfortunate timing. Either the Update was broken, or the update process broke TiddlyWiki for FireFox 2.0.1 or TiddlyWiki for FireFox could not handle the update. This suggests it is unlikely to happen again soon, but it may for others.

I am sorry you lost your work. Thanks to you, I was warned about the update and saved all my work. I have to restart now. I have had problems like that every time I get an update. My computer is rather old and complain in a way I can hear - so that is kind of a warning too. This computer is running Windows. The strange thing is, that I have another one. Older, slower and with less ram. It is running Linux Mint. I've never had any problem with that one. It even feels working faster. Using Firefox and Tiddlywiki only that is ;-)
