Hi Mohammad,

I successfully used the search and replace option to replace some text in several tiddlers but the next line of text I tried didn't work - nothing changed.

However, the Log status indicates that the "field has changed" for each tiddler and does so each time "Replace all?" is clicked.

I'm using Release 2.

Regards
Jon

What do you mean by the next line of text? Don't you use the multiline/global flags?
I think you can see the differences in the  ''Differences'' section. Do you see any text should be replaced but SnR missed it?

If I can reproduce the issue, I will be able to catch the error!

I'm using Release 2.

Yes, Please use the latest update 2.0.7

Jon

Thank you

Hi Mohammad,

Yes, I'm using 2.0.7

I mean it worked for the first text I wanted to replace but not for this:

<<hoverFootnote "^^1^^" "What It REALLY Means to Act 'As If'

replace with:

<<fnote  "{{Footnotes##myref5}}

Jon

The issue is with ^^.

Use https://regex101.com/ and do some experiment.

By the way, here you have to escape the special chars like below

<<hoverFootnote "\^\^1\^\^"

Good luck

Hi Mohammad,

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried https://regex101.com/ to test escaping the characters and as you suggested,  "\^\^1\^\^" produced the correct match.

In Tiddly Commander I did the following:

 - In the search box entered:[all[shadows+tiddlers]search[<<hoverFootnote "^^1^^"]]
 - Selected my tiddlers and deselected the state/temp tiddlers
 - In the Search & Replace boxes:
 - entered <<hoverFootnote "\^\^1\^\^"
 - to be replaced by:
 - <<fnote  "{{Footnotes##myref5}}

This did replace the text successfully but it also introduced the following tag to each tiddler: $:/tags/Commander/Working
I refreshed the wiki without saving to remove the tags to take things back to the beginning.

Regards
Jon

Hi John,

No worry at all.

The selective operation temporarily adds a working tag, $:/tags/Commander/Working
This is only used when you want select tiddlers among your filtered list!

When you finished or whenever you like (next session, ...)  simply click on Deselect all button.
In another word, this way you keep your tiddlers selected to do operation and after finished you
release them!

Hi Mohammad,

If I save the wiki, then the tag is permanently attached to the tiddlers....?

Selective operations add a working tag to the selected tiddlers! If you save wiki and do not click the "deselect all"
they will still there! This cause no problem! Whenever you press the "deselect all" they will be removed!
This is a button remove working tag from all tiddlers have such a tag!
My recommendation is when you finished your batch operations on selected tiddlers release them (remove the tag by click on "deselect all"), except
you need them for further processing in next Commander session.

If you do not use selective operation, then no working tag is in use!
