Slow load?

First off, let me confess that I'm very naive about TiddlyWiki (and
I'm somewhat new to webdesign to start with). That being said, from
what I understand, everything in TiddlyWiki is essentially grouped
into one page. If then, the contents of your site has a massive amount
of text (e.g. the Encylopedia Brittanica), would the website take a
long time to load?
Thanks!

While the time needed to actually send the file from a server depends
directly upon the file size, the 'startup' time once that data is
received by your browser can vary greatly depending upon what kind of
processing your document performs.

Note that, once the document HAS been loaded, there is NO additional
overhead, since the entire 'site' has already been read into your
browser.

In practical terms, depending upon your bandwidth, a file containing a
several megabytes, with hundreds of tiddlers is completely workable.
I've seen a few documents that even had over a thousand tiddlers, and
once they load, they seem to work just fine (though saving can be a
bit slower).

Hi,

For example a 8.5 MB TiddlyWiki with very few plugins installed and
about 2000 tiddlers takes almost a half minute to have it loaded from
the hard drive into Firefox browser. Then navigation isn't much slower
as usual - if the sidebartab macros have been disabled. And a save of
the whole file to the drive again takes almost 45 seconds.

With more plugins and the SidebarTabs actively processing, and for
example a 'done' of one tiddler takes as much as saving the whole
file.

regards,

W.
