Tom Urman, Melody, Va, and I represented TPFR today at the Nation's River Bass Tournament.  We had a great turnout and beautiful weather, and hundreds of children were exposed to fishing - many for the very first time.  I gave walk-up basic fly casting lessons to as many kids as possible while Tom and Melody (and Va.) answered questions about TPFR, the FFF, and Fly Fishing to group after group of school children.  We also gave away a big stack of fly fishing magazines to any kid that wanted them.  My big thanks to Melody and Tom who tirelessly manned our table while I showed these kids how SIMPLE fly casting really is.  I am thankful to have had the opportunity to participate in this event, and all of those who organize it were very thankful to have Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders there.  Enjoy the pictures, and thank you to Melody for taking them!

Also today at the Bass Tournament, tragedy was narrowly averted when "Officer Snook" (who I believe was working for Pepco) got hungry, went on a rampage, and attempted to eat little Va!  We explained to Officer Snook that it is inappropriate to eat babies, especially volunteer babies that smile as much as Va., and he agreed to wait for the volunteer lunches to arrive.  Photographic evidence of this occurrence is attached!
