TPFR friends and family,

We are pleased to announce the selection of Urban Lines, a short film about our local fishing scene on he tidal Potomac, has been selected for the 2013 Fly Fishing Film tour! Some of you may recognize your own faces from beer ties, casting clinics and submitted grip-n-grins. Thank you for all this direct support of the film. More importantly, thank you for this amazing community that inspired this whole film to begin with.

Film-makers for Urban Lines are: Jereme Thaxton (www.freestoneentertainment.com) and Nick & Kami Swingle (www.twofistedheartproductions.com). Cast of characters are our very own, Potomac born and bred (well mostly): Rob Snowhite, Trent Jones, John Bilotta, and Dan Davala.

Below is the synopsis and trailer for the film. See you at the cinema-n-drafthouse on March 28 for the film tour, if we don't see you out on the water first.

Check out the trailer at: https://vimeo.com/57194663
Here's a synopsis of the film: TwoFisted Heart Productions is partnering with Freestone Entertainment to create a film on the tidal Potomac River that counters common stigmas and stereotypes of fly fishing. Four fly fishermen in Washington, D.C. demonstrate that fly fishing is more than an individual pursuit of the catch, more than once-a-year or once-in-a-lifetime trips out West or to exotic locations abroad.  In an unlikely setting of concrete vistas, population density and traffic nightmares, the Potomac River proves that adventure and epic fishing are available to everyone on a daily basis. D.C. fly fishermen have embraced that concept through an online community that provides a 21st century, Web 2.0 take on passionately protecting our water resources for the future and connecting with the people around us. It’s about thinking globally and fishing locally. Otherwise, it’s just another sport.

Richie will have tickets for sale very soon at Urban Angler.  I highly recommend that everyone in TPFR purchase their tickets DIRECTLY from Urban Angler since they are the ones hosting the Fly Fishing Film Tour for all of us - just as they have done for the past several years.

The (officially approved commercial link -DD) to purchase them directly from Urban Angler is HERE!  I'll let Richie fill you all in on the door prizes, raffle, and other swag, and he will let us all know when the tickets have dropped and are available.  He has also imbedded the "Urban Lines" trailer on the ticket landing page - THANKS RICHIE!

Remember to mark your calendars now - the official date for the 2013 Fly Fishing Film Tour at Arlington Cinema-N-Drafthouse is Thursday, March 28!!!!!  Grab your tickets AS SOON AS THEY ARE AVAILABLE as this event is bound to sell out!

See you all there!

Question - the link to the tickets specifies that "all minors must be accompanied by a parent."

What if you're in your mid 30's, but you're really immature?  Do you just have to be accompanied by your wife?

Looks like a neat event!  Thanks for posting.

This is fantastic, guys.  Congrats!  I was curious if I'd see this at the FFFT this year... I was actually going to post something soon asking about the film's fate.  I'm really looking forward to checking this out in March.

FYI Nick--I sent the trailer to a popular DC blog called Prince of Petworth and they picked it up. See here: http://www.popville.com/2013/01/urban-lines-fish-where-you-are-trailer/

Wow, this is phenomenal!! I CAN'T wait to view the film in its full length. The DC Fly Fishing in Schools program has been working hard to encourage students to go fishing in DC, I think this film will be a really great conversational piece and a stepping stone. The students and interns have been working on an instructional video to be released in February. Keep you posted.

Thanks again for giving the heads up.

Tickets are live now.  I’m going to post up a new thread about the film tour with some info about what’s going on, offers, and cool things happening at the film tour this year.

Awesome Richie - Thanks!  I believe Richie is planning to be at BEER TIE this Monday at Whitlow's on Wilson and he should have tickets available for sale on site there as well.  DO NOT DELAY, this year's film tour is bound to sell out quickly!

Any chance that there will be a DVD or online release of this for those who can't make it?
