Hi all,

I have a buddy coming into town from Florida next week. We’re meeting up in Front Royal. We have canoes and kayaks available to float (say, Karo to Front Royal), but I’m also intrigued about the possibility of fishing the State Park via a walk and wade. My buddy and I floated Karo to Front Royal a couple of,e of years ago. We both did well once we figured a few things out, but fishing new water is always fun. If you had to pick, which stretch would you choose? Or is there another stretch nearby that you’d consider? (I’m day tripping from Bethesda if it helps.)

Any insight is appreciated,

Dave

Just be sure to take your friend to Spelunkers.

The Downriver Canoe Company's Burner's Bottom float is a good all-day fishing trip.  They can shuttle you if you have your own kayaks.

Went to check out the river today and hit up Spelunkers (I now suggest the cheesesteak over the burger).

I fished Morgan’s Ford for about an hour. This was before the torrential rains arrived. The water was high, fast, and murky at knee deep.  Wry different than past several years. No bites on articulated crayfish, small black bugger, or popper. Birds were eating bugs below the bridge. Couldn’t see what they were chasing. One fish jumped above the bridge. https://maps.app.goo.gl/iZPD4zQHA6Rayk819?g_st=ipc

Thanks, Rob. We ended up scrubbing. Yesterday's rain blew it out. Hoping for a day next week.
