This past Saturday I spent a couple of hours fishing up in Harpers ferry off of Milville rd right after the dam.  I caught a couple of smallies and a carp and was a great day out.  While standing in the shallows, I noticed a fish was hanging out directly in between my leg, and initially, I thought it was a bass.  After using my net to scoop it up I realized that the fish was in fact a rainbow trout.  The fish was incredibly lethargic and had been attacked by something (maybe a bird).  Has anybody either caught or seen trout in the Harpers Ferry area before?

Wow, that's pretty crazy. I'd speculate the fish washed down from one of the streams in that area that holds or is stocked with trout (Antietam?). It's a miracle that guy was still kicking at all, because the Potomac near DC has been up to 90 degrees recently.

I can't find the posts now but we've seen a few reports on here of people catching rainbows near Chain Bridge and Rock Creek in the Spring, but nothing nearly this late in the year.

I've heard of it happening maybe once a year-there are stocked streams in MD I can think of where they could theoretically wash down from. Esp. parts of Seneca Creek. I'm told Difficult Run still had brook trout in the 80s before the headwaters became super-developed.
