So after all the times you have seen my name on these forums and my mug at the beer ties, I am finally going trout fishing for the first time.  I will be going to lake fairfax tomorrow morning.

I will be going with a friend on mine who has fished for trout in this lake before but this will be the first time for me to fish for trout and for fishing a lake.  After reading a lot of posts, I don't image these fish will be that easy to spook since they are newly stocked but I'm not sure.     I will plan to use my 5 wt. instead of my 7 wt.  and I will probably concentrate on dry flys, terrestial and nymphs more than streamers.   The only other think I can think about is being more careful with my presentation.

If anyone has any suggestions on Lake fairfax or on trout fishing compared to smallmouth/large mouth/ shad/striper/ etc... fishing please let me know.

I have not fished lake Fairfax in a few years, but I do remember it being rather crowded. Never on the fly just with spinning gear.  From what I can remember you should be able to cast a fly rod along the dam side of the lake.  I believe there is a small beach like area next to the dam you should be able to go out and wade in.  If you fish from shore be prepared to be standing elbow to elbow with other anglers.  Not really my favorite type of fishing.
