Due to a total change of plans, I was home alone for several hours today and wandered down to the creek.  They're in there, and DGIF seems to have stocked some real chunkers to boot.  I had one on that I think did 17", but he came off before I had the pic.  I prefer wild water, but it's not a bad way to kill time.

Sorry -- photography isn't my strength, and I don't care enough about it to get any better ;).

Nice! Planning to head out Sunday morning, were they favoring anything in particular?

Got one myself this morning.  Got him on a golden retriever bugger. They were breaking the surface like crazy when I was down there. I would try terrestrials also. PMX and such.

I was using old shad flies, but any streamer works....and other stuff I'm sure.

You should have good action Sunday -- I had several that turned away, and some totally ignoring the fly.  The fish I found were in shallow glides with some sun versus the usual deep holes, but don't quote me on it.  Some were still grabassin with each other too.

Hey Ryan - was that you I was talking to?  If so, I had luck up above where I ran into you ;).

Sure thing -- listen to Ryan!

Haha yup that was me in the red jeep. I almost asked if you were on tpfr.

So you went upstream after we spoke?

I believe it, I had a similar experience in the Spring. Thanks for the info!

I was able to snag a nice sized rainbow on a black bugger with some green flash yesterday. I got out pretty early and really didn't see much action until the sun started rising above the trees. Not sure if the temp had anything to do with it, as it was probably the coldest day of the year thus far. Also the water flow was essentially non-existent. Not a terrible spot all said though, I had only previously gone at Wakefield.

Yep, it was cold out there yesterday!  Glad you had some luck!

They stock some good fish in there sometimes.

I'm planning on about 3 more weeks of fishing before Beth just won't tolerate the cold any longer.  Unlike last year when I drove absurd, stupid distances to catch 0.5 fish at a couple of tailwaters, I am NOT doing that this winter.  It's going to be casting, tying, and maybe a couple of 4MR trips to stretch fly lines.

Sounds like a good plan.

Beth thinks I'll crack and want to drive to places like Funpowder again this winter when it's 25F and breezy, and my boots are frozen in the pickup bed.  I don't think so this year!  Really!  I don't want to admit this and I hope she doesn't read this, but she's always right about everything.  Seriously.  I have no good sense whatsoever.

Actually, I think I promised that I'd never set foot in the gunpowder again just a few months ago during a conversation.

Oh, ridiculous traffic spanning 2 separate beltways around cities I despise!  This be the last trout I'll claim from your waters!
