Poppers? Evening/night time? What side do people see the most action? Also, what about the wall on the Potomac side of Haines? I live on the Hill and want to be able to bike to where I fish. Never fished the Basin, Washington Channel or the Anacostia. Anyone try these recently?

I hope to get to one o your fly ties one day.

Top water has been good in the Washington channel, near the bridge on the outgoing tide, according to some of the guys I see fishing there regularly. Easiest access is from Haines point.

It's been a while since I've fished the Basin with much success. The bite there has seemed to dull down just a bit...However I've had great days there.  Lots of big fish there and you're in for a mixed bag.

I'd lock my bike up and just walk and fish around the basin on a moving tide.

I've fished it mostly with clousers and woolybuggers.
