I just finished reading the magazine and the article on the best streams of the Shenandoah National Park.  i have decided to make this a goal for this year, and was wondering if anyone has done something like this in the past?  Is there any software, or planning tools people have used?
thanks
Jim

Which streams did they mention in the article?

Article is here: http://bit.ly/Xztj87 - but it might be shorter than what appears in the dead-tree issue.

I planned a day of hiking-fishing with my girlfriend out there last fall.  Really is quite beautiful fishing.  Dan at Orvis has a great mapbook you can buy, but really any trail map will do.  Depends on how deep you want to get, but I'd start by identifying a few good trails that run alongside or across some of the runs that go down the mountain.  My favorite spots were where the runs and the trail separated  and took a bit of scambling to get to, because there is the less-pressured water and respite from the constant stream of hikers.  I'm definitely planning on getting out there again soon.
