Surf fishing Annapolis/Assateague

Hi all,

I have to be around Annapolis this weekend and was wondering if it'd be worth slogging out to Assateague with a 9 weight to get in the surf. Other posts on the forum talk about Tom's Cove--is it too early in the year?

If anyone has suggestions for Assateague this weekend, even if it isn't worth the drive, let me know. I will be out there.

Might have better luck on the bay side of Assateague with a lighter weight rod. I've only caught flounders in the surf there chucking bait.
