I'd like to remind everyone that the next
TPFR BEER TIE IS THIS MONDAY, FEB. 13 FROM 7PM-9PM at RiRa Irish Pub in Clarendon. Details and directions to the pub can be found on our
EVENTS PAGE. Per Aaron's request, we will be teaching SHAD FLIES at the beginner's table. Most importantly, just as we did last year, we will again be collecting flies to donate to the
GREATER WASHINGTON CHAPTER of CCA-MD and the
NORTHERN VIRGINIA CHAPTER of CCA-VA for auction at their upcoming annual Banquets:
This year, however, we will do things a little different. I am asking EVERYONE INTERESTED IN DONATING FLIES TO TIE THEM IN ADVANCE!!! This way, we can do our very best work in good time and good light, and create the highest quality flies possible to bring maximum revenue for CCA at their banquets. I have already purchased two Cliff Bugger Beast fly boxes (one for each CCA chapter) and our intention is to FILL THEM BOTH!!! I am presently putting the finishing touches on a dozen Grey/White Clousers tied on Gamakatsu SL12S hooks (#2 and #2/0) that I plan to throw in to the pot and will post pictures when they are complete. Let's keep this thread going by 1) responding with a pledge of what you will tie to donate and 2) posting pictures of the progress.
Both of these selections will have a Saltwater theme, so saltwater patterns on saltwater hooks are encouraged. If you only tie freshwater flies or trout flies - NO PROBLEM! Pledge and tie up what you can and toss them in. If I have to buy a few more boxes and create a few freshwater selections for auction - so be it. The more the merrier and the more fundraising potential for CCA!
I will collect all flies at the BEER TIE this Monday and we will put the selections together then. If you would like to tie and contribute, but cannot make it to the BEER TIE, you can either drop your flies by the Orvis Store in Clarendon between now and then, or mail them to:

Partnering with other non-profit and Conservation Groups is one of my favorite parts of this whole thing. With our talents, our numbers, and our shared passions, we should be able to knock this out of the park for our neighboring CCA chapters. Good fish mojo is a guarantee to all who help in this cause, and good fishing is the purpose!
My most sincere thanks in advance!
