Very low and clear. Small streamers spooked. Soft hackle killed bass perch sunnies. Best fishing down from outfall at cisterns. Cops looking for body cheering me on!

Gene,  that is great, but it's not quite a Haiku.

Four Mile Run Haiku
Winter fishing at its best
Wash your waders now

By gum you're right -- note that I was using a shortie (6-foot) glass "Carl" rod I seldom use.

I love soft hackles and wish I were better at fishing them upstream like WC Stewart.

The interesting appearance of soft hackle flies is what got me interested in fly fishing...at least partially.  I used to fish UL spin tackle with plastic tube jigs and when I saw a soft hackle I instantly knew "those suckers will slay sunfish".  They catch just about everything else too.

Sometimes in warm water when the water is clear and low (and the fish are more spooky than normal), I think they're perfect.  You can stand there and pull out fish after fish (every cast essentially) while bait guys are sitting there without a bite.  This morning was just absurd.

Warm water outflow
Good for fish activity
But it smells like poop
