Anyone have any suggestions for taking folks new to fly angling out to Seneca Creek in Montgomery County? I've fished it like once in 20 years here. Thanks!

Until last year, I worked maybe 10 minutes away from where it crosses Route 28 (Darnestown Road), so I hit it every once in a while. Though I saw trout in the stocked portion once, I did not catch them. But it wasn't a go-to for trout for me. I would generally hit it for warmwater between May and early October when I either wanted a quick fix or when the Potomac was blown out. I generally took fallfish (some very nice), small to medium-sized largemouth, various sunfishes, and once a very nice catfish. The trout portion gets hit pretty hard.

They typically stock several portions of Seneca creek (heavy stocking in spring and lighter in fall).  The areas they stock with trout most heavily are near rifle ford rd and black rock rd.  I wouldn't even suggest taking a novice fly angler out for trout on seneca creek as the the stream receives so much fishing pressure and is littered with anglers.  However, I personally love fishing the the section of seneca creek off of berryville road as well as below the bridge right near Calleva camp during the summer for smallmouth, largemouth and gills.  Would be good for a beginner because there is plenty of back cast space, easy wading, and typically loaded with sunfish.

Thanks, gentlemen.  Having kayaked and fished a few times the stretch from River Rd down to the Potomac, that would be my choice. I'm going to head out this weekend to scope where the roads cross the creek at Darnestown, Black Rock and Germantown Roads.
