Our September Beer Tie is coming up next Monday, September 12 at Whitlow's on Wilson; the bar's open from 6PM until 10PM but feel free to come and go as you please.

Rob Snowhite will be teaching a Popsicle fly, good for swinging for steelhead amongst other fish. As always, we'll have a beer special and burgers are half priced.

This month we'll also be holding a raffle to support the club... yeah, we got bills to cover. Tickets are $2 each or 6 for $10. So far, we have the following brand new items:
- TFO Lefty Kreh Professional 9' 7wt
- Scientfic Anglers 5wt fly line
- Handmade leather lanyard/compact chest pack
- Patagonia Brook Trout t-shirt (large)
- Some flies from Kenmore Fly Shop

Also, put the October Beer Tie on your calendar(October 10), where we'll be hosting and fundraising for Casting for Recovery, and doing an Iron Vise with various pink materials.

See everyone out Monday!

Rock the pink folks -- great cause.  I was just tying some pink [bucktail] minnows for the surf this coming weekend, so this goes hand-in-hand.  I'll try to make it out there, but everything is in the air next month.

When that pink canoe goes up for grabs, you guys should really go for it.  People seem to knock aluminum canoes like cyclists do Schwinn Varsities, but it's mostly for reasons that I've found through experience to be pretty unpersuasive.  I spent a full week on one up in the boundary waters and loved it -- way better than my fiberglass boat.  They're really not overly heavy and you absolutely cannot destroy one through a lifetime of fishing and through total neglect/abuse.  You can also light a fire in the middle to keep warm, and probably hide under one and survive a fire bombing.
