All are welcome to join us in Bethesda on Wednesday night for our annual
Shad Night meeting. We have an expanded event this year starting at 6:30, featuring tackle demonstrations, fly tying, information on the Shad in Schools program and a short slide show from Friends of Fletcher's Cove leaders Mike Bailey and Kenny Mendez. Dan and Alex from The Boathouse will be on hand and Trent, Dalton and Rob are also helping out. Trent is bringing a nice Orvis fly line, fluorocarbon tippet and shad fly package for our silent auction. There will also be trips offered by the legendary Mike Alper, TU CEO Chris Wood, the Binsted shad duo and that master fish-finder known as "Animal."
At 8:00 we'll move on to
Shad Times at Fletcher's, a presentation of photographs and fish tales from notable shad anglers, such as those already mentioned, and some of our more gregarious attendees. It will be the next best thing to fishing, without the ice flows. I can't accept any more photos, but come prepared with your favorite, mostly-true stories and we'll try to fit you in.
The meeting will be held at the
Bethesda-Chevy Chase Services Building, across from the Bethesda Metro station. We hope to see you there!
