Fly fishing around Georgetown, ME?

Hi all,

My family is planning on spending Memorial Day weekend in Georgetown, Maine.  May I ask if anyone's got any guide recommendations for fly fishing in the area?  From preliminary internet research it looks like there are a couple striped bass charters, but I am afraid I do not have the experience to tell if there is any significant difference among them.  Also, any additional reading recommendations on northeastern surf fishing would be welcome.  I've read Striper Moon and am working through Fly Fishing the Surf by Angelo Peluso.

Hi Josh,

Honestly, it's impossible to really tell a significant difference between guides without fishing them or knowing someone who has. I'd just recommend someone who specializes in fly fishing, otherwise he may not be able to put you in a situation for success as easily.

Keep an eye on the calendar too. I'm used to Cape Cod, and if memory serves me correctly, we were really just starting to get the big fish in by memorial day on the sound side. It would be another could weeks before they hit Maine. Hopefully my memory is just off, but the guide will give you a good idea of the runs timing.
