Honestly, it's impossible to really tell a significant difference between guides without fishing them or knowing someone who has. I'd just recommend someone who specializes in fly fishing, otherwise he may not be able to put you in a situation for success as easily.
Keep an eye on the calendar too. I'm used to Cape Cod, and if memory serves me correctly, we were really just starting to get the big fish in by memorial day on the sound side. It would be another could weeks before they hit Maine. Hopefully my memory is just off, but the guide will give you a good idea of the runs timing.
