Thanks to everyone who came out Monday night for another excellent BEER TIE!  We had a relatively light crowd of about 32, which made getting around and getting a beer (and losing one if you were me) a bit easier than normal.  The teaching, sharing, and learning all around the room is always inspiring to see, and Monday was no exception.  A BIG THANKS to Miles for teaching some awesome foam hoppers at the beginner's table.  And thanks to everyone else who shared tips and tricks with anyone who sat down beside.  BEER TIE dates for the rest of 2012 are listed on our EVENTS PAGE.  Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Gee, and I thought 30 or so was an exceptional turnout.  I enjoyed it, good beer, good company.  If my schedule permits, maybe I'll tie next month. At the least I'll bring some surplus materials and/or some flyfishing magazines from my mancave.

I got some new material from a med tech taking my blood yesterday. The flat elastic material they use to wrap around the bicep. The tech didn't know what fly tying was or if it was closed cell when I asked but he gave me the remainder of a roll. It does float and may be useful. This sample is not my preferred color. It is purple. It still might be a useful experiment.

If the material is what I'm thinking of, it can be used to wrap the sections of a rod together when carrying a broken down rod.
